MICROSOFT WINDOWS MILLENNIUM EDITION UPDATES
Windows Millennium operating system preceded the Win 98 Second Edition and is preceded by an other, WinXP,
operating system, already. Anyway, I continue using Win ME and have found it pretty stable and compatible with
the most of the programs that I am using daily. For me, switching to the latest Microsoft operating system is not
important but to have a serious look at the Linux offerings would make more sense for now.
I am running Win ME with Pentium III, 933 Mhz and 64 MB of SDRAM. After some tweaking of the operating system features,
I have a quite fast and reliable platform to perform my tasks. Well, I have been doing some upgrades lately but
mainly on the memory side, that is...Memory is up to 512MB and things are OK except when getting deep into the
graphics, Pentium III just don't cut it...Anyway, I will continue to give support for Win ME as needed but will
be ready for new platforms as they will out-perform the existing ones...Expect me to jump into the WinXP 64Bit
when available !

Windows Me System Restore Update: 290700usam.exe
Microsoft has released an update to fix a problem with Windows Me System Restore. This update resolves an issue
with the System Restore date-stamping functionality that may cause System Restore to date-stamp snapshots that
are taken after September 8, 2001 incorrectly. This can prevent System Restore from locating these snapshots and
can cause the system restore process to fail.

Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache Package:
273017.EXE
The Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache Package provides a workaround to a recently identified issue with computers that
have the combination of Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) hard disk drives with large caches and newer/faster
processors. Computers with this combination may risk losing data if the hard disk shuts down before it can preserve
the data in its cache.
